I got the job! What do I need to know about being on set?

Being on set is an amazing experience and we expect all Background Actors booked through POP to behave in a professional manner for the duration of all work.

Please insure you:

  • Follow all instructions that are given to you
  • Respect all others on set
  • Turn up on time

Large budget films require multiple takes of many different shots in order to fully capture a scene. This can be very labor intensive and you will probably be expected to repeat your actions several times.

If you are required to return to the holding area or stay by set ready to shoot again, please do this as professionally as possible, remember your marks and stay positive.

You may have a lot of down/waiting time so bring something quiet to keep yourself entertained (i.e. a book, playing cards, etc.). Due to confidentiality and security precautions, you are unlikely to be allowed to bring a phone, iPad or tablet on set, so a book is always a safer bet.

You should never approach actors on set. The set is a professional environment and should be respected as such. Scenes can take quite a while to set-up and shoot, and there will be opportunities for you to go to the bathroom. Please check in with the AD responsible for you before leaving.

Positivity is always welcomed on set and production often feedback the performance of you and your attitude, to the casting director or company that booked you. Keeping a positive attitude will help your chances of being booked for future work on that production and future productions.
