Women Startup Challenge

On Wednesday 3rd May, the fifth Women Startup Challenge co-produced by Women Who Tech and Craig Newmark, took place at London’s City Hall. The challenge was open to women-led, tech startups across all tech verticals in Europe.

Women Who Tech bring together talented women who are breaking new ground in technology and a key aim of the organisation is to support women-led startups to get more access to funding. Research from the Entrepreneurs Network has shown a gender bias in venture-capital funding, with male-run business 86% more likely to secure investment.

Women Who Tech launched the Women Startup Challenge in 2015 – a competition to recognise women-led startups with the right ideas, that are solving problems and changing the world.

Our CEO, Kate McLaughlin, was one of ten finalists in the 2017 Europe competition and pitched We Got POP to a panel of judges.

POP was delighted to be involved in such a superb initiative, and our thanks go to Women Who Tech for welcoming Kate as a finalist, alongside nine other inspiring women. We had a fantastic time, heard some amazing pitches and wish nothing but huge success to our fellow startups.
