Talking tech with the next generation of production assistants

We’re proud to announce that we’re supporting the Elstree Screen Arts (ESA) Centre of Screen Excellence.

ESA building

ESA is doing amazing work alongside the British Film Institute, ScreenSkills, Elstree Studios and the National Film and TV School to provide increased access and opportunities to young people who are currently under-represented in the industry. As a company whose mission is to drive a smarter, fairer future for entertainment, this is a cause which is very close to our hearts.

We’ll be leading two classes for the Screencraft - Production Assistant course, which introduces participants to the role of the production assistant.

In our first session, POP’s Head of Business Development Simon Donovan shared his insight into how technology is transforming production and how it can be leveraged to better support our industry. He also touched on enhanced scrutiny and the key compliance issues facing production companies, such as GDPR, IR35 and post-Brexit right to work regulations.

ESA’s students are inspiring - they’re so engaged and eager to hear about the challenges facing production. I feel encouraged that the next generation of crew are curious, open and excited to join an industry which is striving for change - something that POP is keen to support.

Simon Donovan, Head of Business Development, POP

Thank you to ESA for giving us the opportunity to share our vision for entertainment. We can’t wait for the next session!
