October premieres: epic film and TV to watch this month

Sofa season is here, and that means one thing: more time to watch all of the incredible #poweredbyPOP productions which have premiered in recent weeks. And looking at the calibre of this list, we’re spoilt for choice. We’re so proud to see POP’s production and casting tech powering the best in UK film and HETV.

Angela Black

Production company: Two Brothers Pictures

New to screens this month is ITV’s psychological drama Angela Black, starring the incredible Joanne Froggatt.

Described as a “Hitchcockian thriller,” this six-part story follows Angela, who’s seemingly charismatic husband Olivier (Michiel Huisman) is secretly abusive. The twist comes in the form of private investigator Ed (Samuel Adewunmi), who turns up out of the blue and starts spilling Olivier’s secrets. But can he be trusted?

Premiered 10 October on ITV.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Background casting: Two 10 Casting

Everyone’s favourite alien symbiote is back! In this action-packed sequel, Tom Hardy returns to face off against supervillain Carnage, played by Woody Harrelson. Also starring Naomie Harris as Carnage’s evil sidekick Shriek, this blockbuster is not to be missed.

Premiered 15 October in cinemas.


COBRA: Season 2

Robert Carlyle has returned as UK Prime Minister Robert Sutherland in this popular political thriller. With the help of Chief of Staff Anna Marshall (Victoria Hamilton), Season 2 sees Sutherland forced to grapple with cyber attacks and the impact of fake news on democracy. So far it’s just as gripping as Season 1, which means we’re in for a treat.

Premiered 15 October on Sky Max.

The Last Duel

Background casting: 20th Century Studios and Disney

After much anticipation, Ridley Scott’s medieval blockbuster The Last Duel hit cinemas this month. Set during the Hundred Years’ War - and with a star-studded cast including Jodie Comer, Matt Damon, Adam Driver and Ben Afleck - this is an epic tale of betrayal and vengeance.

Temple: Season 2

Mark Strong has reprised his role as rogue surgeon Daniel Milton in the hit drama Temple. In Series 1, Daniel set up an illicit clinic underneath Temple tube station in an attempt to save his sick wife Beth. As Beth wakes from her coma and demands answers, can Daniel keep on top of his lies?

Premieres 28 October on Sky Max.
