Calling all crime lovers - this one’s for you. Bertie Carvel has stepped into the iconic shoes of Inspector Adam Dalgliesh. Based on PD James’ best-selling novels, this six-part series - made up of three separate stories - starts in the 1970s and follows Dalgliesh’s career to the present day as he solves a string of unusual murders.

Premiered 3rd November on Acorn TV and 4th November on Channel 5.

Eternals

Background casting: Two 10 Casting

Marvel Studios’ latest blockbuster sees a new team of superheroes forced out of the shadows to save humankind from our oldest enemy, The Deviants. Widely recognised for its LGBTQ+ representation and cultural diversity - and with a star-studded cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington and Kumain Nanjiani - this is Marvel like you’ve never seen before.

Premiered in cinemas 5th November 2021.

Mothering Sunday

Background casting: Key Casting

Based on Graham Swift’s novella of the same name, Mothering Sunday is a tale of illicit love between a young maid (Odessa Young) and a well-born man (Josh O’Connor), who’s recently returned from the Front and is betrothed to another woman. Also starring Olivia Coleman and Colin Firth, Mothering Sunday is a sad but steamy portrait of love, grief and the class system in post-war England.

Premiered in cinemas 12th November 2021.

Belfast

Background casting: Sally King Casting

Also hitting cinemas this month is Kenneth Branagh’s critically acclaimed Belfast, a semi-autobiographical tale about growing up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. While the subject matter is serious, this is a charming look at life through the rose-tinted glasses of a young boy. And with the Oscar buzz already swirling, it’s a must watch.

Premiered in cinemas 12th November 2021.
