Payroll and Tax Specialist

POP is building ‘Production out of the box’ - digitizing the finding, hiring, managing and paying of all people on all production projects. The Payroll module and service is a new proposition to move towards completing that vision. We want to deliver to the market a revolutionized payroll offering to deliver digital, transparent and compliant payroll for production users.

Role

  • Oversee and be accountable for tax technical compliance of the payroll offering in the UK
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC reporting requirements
  • Manage and improve quality and timeliness
  • Be the internal guru on tax technical questions / route to external advisors
  • Be the tools champion
  • Maintain good working relationship with HMRC
  • Work with Product and Development teams on:
    • Required technical updates (changes in law etc)
    • Product improvements (front end and back end)
    • Reporting / auditing tools
  • Train support team on tools and technical
  • Provide thought leadership input and support for pitches
  • Be a key connector into the broader EP payroll business
  • Support growth of the payroll business within and beyond the UK

Key areas of knowledge

  • Suitably qualified (e.g. ACA, ACCA, ATT, CIPP etc)
  • UK film and TV industry practice around the on-set to payroll reporting area
  • UK film and TV industry employment contracts (from payroll perspective) including union positions and hours to gross pay calculations
  • UK payroll taxation - law, rules and practice
  • RTI and HMRC reporting (periodic and annual)
  • Pensions / Auto-enrolment
  • Other payroll deductions
  • Accounting for payroll / standard film + TV accounting packages

Real pluses

  • Studio experience (esp US working in UK)
  • US industry practices and knowledge
