Senior Product Designer

We’re looking for a Senior Designer who loves building simple tools that make things easier. You’ll lead POP’s design team, guiding them to bring feature ideas to life through ideation, research, design and analysis.

We’re looking for someone that can

  • Help us to improve our ability to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers, by improving our product development through the use of design principles & practises

  • Lead the design function; as the most senior designer at POP, you will be responsible for ensuring that the people that use our services remain at the centre of the product design process

  • Manage the design team; you will take responsibility of the output of the design team, coaching and mentoring your direct reports while also making your own contributions

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships

  • Lead by example, working as both a manager and an individual contributor

You’ll own the design process, creating user flows, building prototypes, collaborating on user research. You’ll work to understand how people use our products, and help create solutions for the problems and challenges they face as they create world-class television and film.

We love working with designers at POP who

  • Have a deep subject matter expertise in product and UX design

  • Understand the theory and fundamentals of most qualitative and quantitative research methods, their limitations and when to apply them

  • Are data-informed in their decision making, can use data to articulate and understand problems and can confidently apply success measures to their design solutions

  • Take real ownership over their work, tasks and objectives - able to work independently to drive business outcomes

  • Have deeply embedded user centricity, are familiar with user persona frameworks, and can effectively use these when designing solutions & communicating with stakeholders

  • Work collaboratively with technical teams (on feasibility of design solutions, performance impact etc.) users, and the rest of the business to drive for the best outcomes and solutions

Our background casting tech powers 70% of UK high end TV and feature films as well as Central Casting, the leading background actor company in the US. Our Production Portal is used by over 30 well-known production companies, including AMC, Sky Studios, BBC Studios, Studio Lambert and Bad Wolf.

Led by Kate McLaughlin, previously an assistant director on multiple major feature films, POP was acquired by Entertainment Partners in 2020.

About you

  • 6+ years professional experience, or equivalent qualifications

  • Have experience as the lead designer on one or more large and/or complex product(s) and can evidence your approach to system design, IA and overall UX design

  • Have a toolkit of research methods that you can apply as appropriate and are capable of distilling the results and sharing them with the team

  • You are equally comfortable facilitating the end-to-end design process (with a team) as you are owning each stage in the process yourself

  • Experience moderating design systems and the contributions to them

  • Proficient in spoken and written English

Bonus points for

  • Experience with Figma

  • A broad understanding of visual design and other design software, to assist marketing briefs

  • A keen interest in customer research, with the ability to direct research activities
