POP at Edinburgh TV Festival in partnership with Workday: The critical problem you don’t know you have: the power of people data.

The UK film & TV industry is bigger business than ever. As the global regulation spotlight shines firmly on major freelance economies, massive inadequacies in business processes are being exposed due to outdated fragmented workflow and manual paper-based practices.

In July 2019 alone the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has issued fines of £282M, to just four businesses, including one TV production company, for mishandling data. From the ICO: “the law is clear – when you are entrusted with personal data you must look after it. Those that don’t will face scrutiny from my office to check they have taken appropriate steps to protect fundamental privacy rights.”

Production Companies no longer have a choice but to have the same concerns as other industries in managing their freelance workforce. The industry cannot continue to function as an idiosyncratic and eccentric backwater in this scrutinous environment if they want to avoid serious consequences.

Don’t get left behind in the new world of production; We Got POP and Workday discuss ways to protect the future of your business and hit the sweet spot between operational efficiency and corporate governance.
